Gilead Sciences to Acquire Tubulis to Expand Its ADC Capabilities in Oncology
Gilead Sciences has announced an agreement to acquire Germany-based clinical-stage biotech Tubulis in a deal valued at up to $5 billion, expanding its oncology pipeline through next-generation antibody-drug conjugate, or ADC, technology.
The acquisition adds Tubulis’ lead programme TUB-040, along with its proprietary Tubutecan linker-payload technology and broader ADC platform. The transaction also builds on a two-year collaboration between the two companies, suggesting growing conviction in Tubulis’ scientific and development capabilities.
Key points
- Total deal value of up to $5 billion, including $3.15 billion upfront and up to $1.85 billion in milestone payments
- TUB-040 is a NaPi2b-targeted TOPO1i ADC in Phase 1b/2 development for ovarian cancer and non-small cell lung cancer
- TUB-030 is a 5T4-targeted ADC with early clinical data across multiple solid tumours
- Following closing, Tubulis’ Munich site is expected to become Gilead’s hub for ADC innovation
ADCs remain a major area of investment across oncology, particularly as large biopharma companies look to strengthen selective tumour-targeting capabilities and deepen their next-generation pipeline positions. This transaction reflects not only near-term pipeline expansion, but also a broader long-term commitment to advanced oncology platforms.
Greenstaff Life Sciences extend our congratulations to the teams at Gilead Sciences and Tubulis.
